Spotlessly clean and perfectly placed
A fabulous property that was spotlessly clean and perfectly placed – right in the heart of Hebden Bridge yet just far enough back to experience peace and quiet. Hebden itself is a beautiful place and the artisan shops and cafes made such a pleasant change from virtually every other high street up and down the land. Our three dogs had a whale of a time and we can thoroughly recommend Hardcastle Crags – a fabulous walk with or without a four legged friend. Thank you very much!Simon
The perfect Christmas
We had decided to go away as a family last Christmas – just my husband and I, my adult daughter and son. We came across Twenty Seven Steps whilst idly searching for ideas last April and decided to book it there and then. We had a couple of queries prior to the booking to check on facilities when we there and Peter answered these promptly and in a friendly, engaging way. We duly arrived on Christmas Eve and accessed the keys easily. What a lovely surprise to walk in and find a fully decorated Christmas tree, complete with lights, and a tub of Cadbury’s Heroes on the coffee table. We had already been told they would leave tea, coffee and some milk for our arrival, very welcome after the drive. We were able to park two cars outside with no problem. The kitchen was fully equipped and we enjoyed a splendid Christmas dinner – somewhat later than planned as we had discovered a lovely micro pub called Calans just around the corner which delayed proceedings somewhat! The main bedroom is very spacious and the other two were fine in the other room, which has bunks. The shower was good too. Heating controls were easy to use. We had e-mailed the owners, Peter and Sue, to say we had safely arrived and they replied to say we should contact them at any time, even on Christmas Day, if we had any problems, and I have no doubt they would have sorted out whatever it was. The location of the cottage is perfect – at the end of the cul-de-sac on which it is situated 27 steps lead you down into the middle of Hebden Bridge; walk the other way and there is a large Co-op. There is a sofa bed in the lounge but I think it would only comfortably sleep 6 if that included children. If we knew now we would be just 4 next Christmas we’d be booking now, but I can see a visit at another time being a distinct possibility.Debs
Great hosts, great place and great location. It’s our third stay so that tells you what we think of it.Alison
A lovely little bolt-hole in Hebden Bridge. Parking right outside and further parking at end of road cul de sac so no through traffic. The steps lead straight to the centre of this friendly little market town. 27 Steps is clean, warm, with modern fittings and very comfy beds. The box of chocolates waiting for us was very much appreciated! It’s also dog friendly, as is Hebden. Loved it.Sue
A little delight
Where do I start – Pete & his wife were easy to contact & gave us all the details we needed to gain access to the property. On using our sat nav the property was easy enough to find & what a little delight this was. Had everything we needed for our 2 night stay included fresh milk & bits & bobs like washing up liquid down to teabags & coffee & salt. Location!!! am sure you couldn’t get any closer as the 27 steps are not steep & you are in the middle of all the action – we were lucky we had great weather so could sit outside all the little pubs & had our 1st nights meal at the Greek/Turkish Aya Sophia – would definitely go next time. We also visited Marco’s Italian cafe which is a must & just as good 2nd time around. For our day out on our 2nd day we visited Towneley Hall Museum in Burnley but stayed in the gardens as the weather was too nice to go & stay inside – the river cafe there is lovely & we also met a volunteer in the little antique shop there who you may recognise from tv (Alice Barry – if you ever watched Shameless or Phoenix Nights you may recognise her!). The beds in the cottage were comfy & rooms very warm (may need to keep bedroom window open in warm weather) – my only small suggestion would be it would be nice for another 2 seater sofa rather than the tub chair, but this is just my thoughts as me & my daughter hogged the comfy sofa & hubbie had to have the chair ha ha. It was lovely to come back on an evening to have comfort of a house rather than a hotel room & we will definitely be staying here again & thank you for the hospitality.Tracy, James & Jenna
